Still Lifes

These in between days, they beg a kind of nothingness – a kind of lying around reading watching films and eating – there has just been so much eating. After a month of hardly eating anything, I’ve made up for it by eating everything in sight. Chocolates, apple cake, coffee cake…

We got dressed early and went out for breakfast, but at different points during the day we’ve all returned to the comfort of pyjamas. Apart from Ava, who has been periodically naked but is now in a different princess dress to the one she was wearing for breakfast.

Ava’s face is painted butterfly-like again, my hair is now a bit redder than it was this morning. But mostly we’ve been meandering around the house doing not much of anything. I like these days, so rare and undisturbed. And everywhere I look there are still lifes of a day and a home and a family.
