30 Days of Autumn: 22








don’t believe that it’s about choice or nutrition as much

as the absolute, inexplicable joy of closeness

the elemental force of feeding your young,

animal, yes, divine, yes

and extraordinary


so when the Little signs for milk, followed by her quirky, kind-of-bossy head nod,

followed by that toddle over to the ‘feeding’ chair and a point back to me

and a point to the chair

I find myself happy to be in her world, always there for what she wants and what she still

needs more than anything; Mama’s milk, and all that that means.
