This weekend, I had a little time set aside specially for me to begin all the making that’s going to be happening around here. Last weekend was a write-off, since Howard was ill, and this week was pretty much the same since I caught whatever Howard had.
So. I made a pincushion, following Joelle Hoverson’s lovely pattern in Last Minute Quilts & Other Gifts.
I made some bunting, for Ava’s birthday (out of a dress I used to love which I bought in America. Green paisley – delicious!)
And I made a birthday crown (after all, every little girl should have a birthday crown, no?)
I couldn’t find wool felt anywhere, so opted for two layers of regular felt with some interfacing in the middle.
And tonight, there will be a little quilt, but I can’t say more than that because it’s a gift for someone.
And apart from that, we enjoyed the autumn weekend here. Leaves were stood in. Cardigans were worn. A hat and mittens were bought for A, who isn’t so sure yet what to do with it and how to get it off (it has ties, hah!)
And there were books ordered for two special birthdays coming up (and a few books thrown in for me), a few living-room discos (Dolly Parton is a favourite apparently…hmm), and a few more baby signs learnt (music! dancing! more music! more dancing!)
Good weekending, all in all, in that mild and crisp September way.
